2026 marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most memorable games ever played by a Luton club player. In 1976, the great Viktor Korchnoi, ranked number 2 in the world at the time, came to Luton Chess Club to play in a simultaneous exhibition against 33 players. Only one player was able to defeat "Viktor the Terrible".
