The Luton Chess Club Championship 2025/2026 round 1 pairings are tabled below.

Room G225, Campus Centre, University of Bedfordshire is available on Tuesdays from 7.30 pm to play matches. The suggested date for round 1 matches is Tuesday 27th January 2026 as there are no league matches for Luton on this date. All round 1 games to be played by end of Tuesday 17th February 2026.

Luton Chess Club Championship 2025/2026 Rules.

1. The Championship will be run using the “Swiss System” 1 . The winner will be the player with the highest total of points after the final round. All players must have a current ECF membership.

2. The Tournament controllers are Andrew Pye and Peter Montgomery.

3. There will be 4 rounds.

4. The games will be played in accordance with the FIDE Rules of Chess and the format used in the Bedfordshire Chess League (All moves in 1 hour 20 minutes and a 10 seconds per move increment.). A win scores 1 point, a draw scores ½ point, a loss scores 0.

5. The pairings for each round will be published as soon as possible after the draw is made.

6. Matches can be played any time after the draw is published but must be completed by the specified date. There will be at least 2 Tuesdays in weeks with no league games These dates will be published with the draw..

7. It is the players’ responsibility to arrange the games. In the case of difficulty in arranging a game please contact one of the tournament controllers.

8. Unless otherwise agreed with a tournament controller if a match is not completed by the given date both players will score 0. If a player withdraws after a round has been published the opponent will be awarded 1 point. If an odd number of players result because of a withdrawal the player with the lowest score will receive a ½ point bye for the next round.

9. If the highest points totals are tied at the end of the final round the winner will be decided by looking at the result of the game(s) between the tied players. If that does not provide a winnerthe Sonneborn–Berger score will be used. If that does not provide a winner the title will be shared.

10. The results of all games will be submitted to the Bedfordfshire League Controller for ECF Rating.
