2026 Bedfordshire Individual Championship

Entries for the 2026 Bedfordshire Individual Chess Championship will shortly close on 31st of December 2025. This is open to all Luton Chess Club players with an ECF membership.

The tournament will be a 6 round Swiss-system, with the following schedule:

The time control is the same as in the Bedfordshire Chess League: All moves in 80 minutes, with a 10 second increment from move 1.

There will be cash prizes for at least the top 2 finishers (amount and number of prizes dependent on entries), plus a slow starter prize (for players on 1 point or fewer after round 3). If there are sufficient entries, a rating prize will also be offered.

Recent winners include the 2025 and current champion Andrew Bowler from Milton Keynes Chess Club and the 2024 champion Michael Botteley from Bedford Chess Club. The last winner from Luton Chess Club was Andrew Perkins from 1982.

At the time of writing, there are currently 19 entrants from Bedfordshire League Clubs, including Jonadab Oki from Luton Chess Club. Best of luck to Jonadab and to any other Luton Club player who may enter.
