Just for fun, we're trying something different this year. Instead of selecting puzzles from a book or online, we've decided to use real situations from over the board games of a Luton club player under clock conditions. We suggest trying to recreate the original scenario by setting up the position on your chess set at home, then give yourself about 2 or 3 minutes on each puzzle without moving the pieces.
Puzzle 1: Black to play, Mate in 2. (From Adrian Elwin vs Andrew Perkins, 1987 BCL match).
Puzzle 2: Black to play, Mate in 2. (From Andrew Pye vs Elliot Long, 2024-25 Luton Club Championship).
Puzzle 3: Black to play, Mate in 3. (From Elliot Long vs Samir Vora, 2023 BCL match).
